Abstract
Objective: The growth and progress of any organization depends on the type of decision-making of the manager of that organization. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between the decision-making patterns of school managers and their performance from the perspective of teachers of elementary schools in Dehdasht city.
Methodology: The method of this study is based on a quantitative approach, with an applied purpose and is of a descriptive-correlation type. The statistical population of this study includes all male and female elementary school teachers in Dehdasht city who were teaching in the academic year 1401-1402, and according to the statistics obtained, their number was 420 people. To determine the sample size, 201 of them were selected as a sample using a simple random sampling method. The tools used in this study included two questionnaires on managers' decision-making patterns and a questionnaire on managers' performance. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson's correlation coefficient test and stepwise regression) were used to analyze the data.
Findings: The research findings indicate that there is a significant and direct relationship between the authoritarian, consultative, and participatory decision-making styles of school principals in Dehdasht city and their performance in school. Also, among the decision-making styles, the consultative decision-making style had the highest prediction for the performance of managers.
Conclusion: As a result, it can be said that the use of participatory, consultative, and caring management styles can lead to better school dynamics and performance.
