The effectiveness of an educational program based on hope for education on academic vitality and academic optimism of fifth grade elementary school

Abstract

Background and Objectives: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of the educational program based on hope for education on academic vitality and academic optimism of fifth grade elementary school students in Foladshahr city.Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all fifth grade elementary school students in Foladshahr city in the academic year 2024-2025, totaling 476 people, of whom 30 people were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (15 people) and control groups (15 people). The subjects in the experimental group received the educational program based on hope for education during 8 training sessions, while the subjects in the control group did not receive any intervention. Before and after the training, all subjects completed the Dehghani-Zadeh Academic Vitality Questionnaire (2012) and the Tsanen-Moran et al. (2013) Data analysis was performed using multivariate Tests of and Test of between-Subjects effects in SPSS-27. Results: The results of data analysis showed that in the post-test phase, the subjects in the experimental group experienced a significant increase in academic vitality (P<0.001) and academic optimism (P<0.001) compared to the control group. Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it can be said that the educational program based on hope for education has a positive effect on improving academic vitality and academic optimism of fifth-grade elementary school students with academic problems, and through teaching these strategies, it is possible to improve the academic conditions of this group of students.
