چکیده

Whenever a new technology has entered the school, education has inevitably confronted the question: "What will this technology change?" With generative AI, however, the question is far more fundamental. This technology is not merely a new tool for transmitting information: it can generate text, explain, compare, formulate questions, provide feedback, solve problems, and, in some contexts, even function as a conversational instructional partner. For this reason, the entry of AI into the classroom cannot be understood simply as a continuation of the history of "educational technologies." What we are witnessing is a shift in the very architecture of the relationship among teacher, student, and knowledge.

The current issue of the Journal of Teachers' Experiences, alongside topics such as organizational participation, educational leadership and management, and teachers' experiences and school-related issues, returns us to precisely this point: how should the contemporary school adapt itself to a world in which the production of and access to information are no longer the exclusive domain of the teacher and the textbook? The answer should not be sought in the simple dichotomy of "accepting or rejecting AI." The matter is considerably more complex.

From Educational Technology to "Teacher's Assistant"

Generative AI can make parts of a teacher's work lighter, and even improve its quality: drafting lesson plans, designing differentiated activities for students at varying levels, generating sample questions, suggesting resources, preparing instructional scenarios, and offering preliminary feedback are among the capabilities that can free up a teacher's time and energy. Systematic reviews have likewise shown that AI chatbots can be effective in personalized learning, homework support, explanation, and support for instructional activities, and can offer teachers benefits such as time savings and support for instructional design-provided that credibility, accuracy, and ethical.
